Creating the Game & Packaging Design for Rock Me Archimedes

Design, whether the physical product or the unboxing experience, brings an idea to life. It is about considering how customers will engage with the product, interact with the business, and connect with each other. For technical products that have never existed before this can be a big step, but for a strategy- and dexterity-testing game like Rock Me Archimedes, it was a step worth taking.

The Challenge:

Turn a contest-winning idea into a commercial success

The Outcome:

Rock Me Archimedes, a suspense-filled balancing game

The Impact:

Paved the way for an exclusive line of over 170 new Marbles products with clear purpose and healthy margins

My Process:

Building a story to rally around.

Starting with the known goals for gameplay and finding inspiration to take them further through ancient Greek mathematics, modern but natural colors, wood textures, and unique storage systems

Disturbing a few circles.

Adapting manufacturing plans to ensure ideal rockability (ex. changing from a hand-shaped and -sanded solid wooden piece to a molded wood composite)

Eureka! I've got it!

Building the full spectrum of files necessary to take the product into production, the brand into the market, and the line to the next level
